-3.00) QUESTIONNAIRE
- 3.01) WHAT PERTINENT EXPERIENCE DO YOU POSSES FROM YOUR PREVIOUS EDUCATION/WORK/TRAINING?
- I joined the LSES shortly after I moved to Los Santos. It was there I was trained as an EMT, then went on the received advanced medical training as a Paramedic. I also found myself eventually made part of not just the Command team, but the High Command team and eventually Chief's office. It was through this time that former Chiefs Delta Dawn and Edwin Huckleberry taught me to be an effective, efficient, and compassionate leader.
- 3.02) WHAT ARE YOUR STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES THAT ARE RELEVANT TO THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS?
- My strengths are that I am quite good with people. My time as Director, GOB of LSES taught me how to manage employees and how to make them not only trust you but respect you. I think this is a skill that could easily transfer over to the Department of Corrections. As for weaknesses, I think I can sometimes be too nice to people, and this leads me to be a bit blind when it comes to them. I try to please everyone, and as anyone in a leadership position knows or has learned, that simply isn't possible. This is something I am continually working on, however.
- 3.03) PROVIDE AT LEAST TWO EXAMPLES OF TIMES WHERE YOU PREVENTED A HOSTILE SOCIAL SITUATION FROM ESCALATING AND EXPLAIN HOW YOU DID SO:
- During my tenure at LSES we had two employees that were bumping heads with one another. They had begun to turn employees against each other as well. To solve this we separated them while on duty and moved around their ranks so there'd be less interaction between them, and this seemed to work quite well as things died down quickly. For the second one, this is actually something pertaining to myself. As Director of GOB I felt very protective over my EMT's and Paramedics and could be very headstrong when it came to fighting for them. This often left me bumping heads with the other directors at the department. To make this better and to improve our workplace I took a hard look at myself and figured out how I could improve myself, then made an effort to be much more willing to work and compromise with my colleagues, rather than being nonstop stubborn about every single issue that arose.
- 3.04) PROVIDE AT LEAST ONE EXAMPLE OF A TIME WHERE YOU FAILED TO CONTROL A HOSTILE SOCIAL SITUATION AND EXPLAIN WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY:
- This ties back to my last answer but once as a Director I got into a heated argument with one of my higher-ups over a situation involving a student EMT. Later that night I realized how much better I could have handled the situation and how harsh I had been with my fellow employee. It was a big learning moment for me and one I intended to make right, so I went in the next day and quickly apologize to said employee. Promising it wouldn't happen again, and it didn't as I always made sure to reevaluate what I was going to say again before I said something.
- 3.05) PROVIDE A BRIEF BACKGROUND ABOUT YOURSELF
- My name is Peter Chamberlain and I grew up in San Fierro. I moved to Los Santos during a weird time in my life where I felt very lost. It was then that I saw an ad for the LSES and decided to join up so I'd have a decent income, coming in every month. But quickly I grew to love the people there and found myself engrained in the family that it was. I loved my time working at LSES and even got promoted through all the ranks, up to Assistant Chief. But eventually, life happened and I found myself leaving the LSES to pursue a career as a traveling nurse alongside my wife. Now I found myself back in Los Santos to help out my dear friends Steve Arby and Valerie Torfeh so that I may pay back all that they have done for me in our times as friends.
